The Heat Is On In Saigon

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ

See picture for explanation.

Yet another travel day today.  I am starting to dislike flying. Being on the actual plane is totally fine it's just getting to that point which is kind of aggravating at times.  Especially today when Vietnam Airlines delayed our flight four times so instead of leaving Hue at 1:15 we ended up leaving at 3:30.

Landing in Ho-Chi-Minh City at around 5:30 we jumped in a taxi and headed straight to the hotel.  A warning about catching taxis from right outside the HCMC airport. Don't mindlessly believe the price your driver tells you.  Jack and I calculated it out before hand and found it would take around 140k VND to get to our hotel.  When the taxi dropped us off he asked for 200k. Which is just him trying to take advantage of white-tourist ignorance.  As our guide book says "stick to your guns."

I also need to admit something shameful. I cracked tonight.  Arriving in a big, western-ish city having eaten nothing but Vietnamese food for the past two weeks I'm sorry to say that we were slightly food-home sick. In our defense we were tired and the McDonald's was a five minute walk from our hotel.  This day marks the first day in years that I've eaten a McDics cheese burger. I've drunkenly had fries or a milkshake but never cracked this bad and had a burger until today.  I'm loosing it, think Kale, Carrots, Lettuce...

Our hotel is actually rather centrally located so tomorrow we're planning to check out the war remnants museum and apparently Vietnam's largest indoor market(?)

I'm missing Vancouver and my family and friends but this trip has been incredible so far.   We're almost done with our time in Vietnam, just a few days in Saigon and then we're off to Cambodia.

All da beez

For some reason when we landed in HCMC we seem to have flown into a bugs life.  There weren't just a couple. There were thousands of bees outside our plane and we were both genuinly convinced they would make their way inside.
