A Burgoo Review

Do you like a restaurant with a nice, chill atmosphere and really good food?  Then if you're ever in the Vancouver area I would highly suggest going to Burgoo Bistro.  With three locations (West 4th and Vine, Tenth and Sasamat and Main and Fifteenth) there's one for wherever you may be in the city.
I dropped in on the West 4th / Vine location a few days ago because one of my good friends is a hostess there (she said she'd save me a table.)  If I haven't made it clear with my other blogs I'm a very strong advocate of taking yourself out for dinner so I went with the intention of just relaxing by myself after a busy day.  I got seated, pulled out my book and proceeded to munch my way through an amazing Soup / Sandwich combo and a nice, tasty desert.

Burgoo has a really solid set menu along with rotating seasonal features.  I've been there often enough to have tried most (if not all) of their original items so I took a chance and got the feature sandwich on the recommendation of my server.  With a more Indian inspiration it was a vegetarian dish using Naan stuffed with spinach pakoras, mango chutney and tomatoes.  I am a very big lover of Indian food so I was fairly certain that I would enjoy it regardless.  I can say that it did not disappoint and honestly it was probably one of the best meals I've eaten at Burgoo.
For desert (as stuffed as I was) I ordered a small chocolate mouse.  It was super rich but it came in a very petit ramequin dish so it was enjoyable without being overwhelming.

If you are a lover of a warm, welcoming atmosphere and rich, filling meals definitely give Burgoo a try.  It's good food for a very reasonable price.  In total, for my soup, sandwich and desert my bill ran me 22$?  Definitely a restaurant for a students budget.
