National Student Pride - London 2017

*Updated now that I'm not hungover af*

I am exhausted.

This weekend has been absolutely, ridiculously insane in the best way possible.
It started with National Student Pride, held at the University of Westminster.  Student Pride is basically a gathering of almost every university queer society in the UK. Really it's just a combination careers fair, convention and excuse to go clubbing.

The weekend started when we got into London on the Friday afternoon and checked into the Generator hostel.

I think what I liked most about the experience was probably rooming with the gays from CU-Pride.  I keep saying this but it astounds me how quickly I've made friends with all of these wonderful people.  The queer community here is so open and welcoming that I instantly found people that I can just be completely myself with.

Honestly I found the careers fair rather underwhelming.  Besides Google representing the media industry a lot of it was focused on engineering, law and computer science. Which, obviously for a Media Studies student isn't very useful.
There was a LGBTQ+ YouTube panel which was interesting.  I should brush up on my EU YouTubers because I didn't know the panelists but I met a cute Irish YouTuber (hey gurl hey) and got a lot of rainbow swag.

ANYWAY
Onto the clubbing
The clubbing
Ohh boy the clubbing.

The LGBTQ London scene is utterly, nutterly, butterly.  We were in London for two nights (Friday and Saturday) and so between the two days we went on a Soho club crawl.  We, as a club, prepaid much of the trip so we all got wristbands which let us into most of the venues and got us discounted drink prices (which is always a plus.)  My personal favorite was a club called G.A.Y Heaven.
Apparently, the club used to be a part of the underground system which was discontinued and then re purposed into part of the nightlife. There are like six (or more) different rooms all with different varieties of music (Pop, R&B, rap etc) and the number of Student gays in town just meant that there were a lot of hot guys about.

Now, I've been thinking about whether I should include this next bit just because as I get more into online content creation the more that I say and do on my platforms will have a legitimate real world effect.
But, I've decided to include this next bit because in many ways this blog is journal and time-machine enabling me to look back at different moments of my life and remember what I was thinking and feeling.
I'm not making this into more of a thing than it was but I'll just say that on the Saturday night there were some content creators at Heaven (ones with fairly substantial followings) and that I may or may not have gone home with one of them (sorry mom).  As a small creator but also just as a person who's never had a large amount of confidence in the area of meeting guys, going home with a "famous" person was, if anything, a bit of an ego boost.
I want to make it clear though that I didn't go home with him because he's a popular creator, it just happened that was the case.
That's all I'm going to say about it anyway.

All in all it was such an amazing experience.  I've become closer with the friends I've made at Cardiff and I got to cover my entire body with glitter over this weekend so it's a total win win.

Until next week
