Two Days Ago, Hungover. Yesterday Rained In and Today Just Plain Exhausted

(Two Days Ago)
We arrived in Budapest to one of my favourite AirBnb's so far.  Basically it's a loft apartment someone rents out for like 30$ a night which between two people is very manable as far as traveling expenses go.  The only bad thing about it is that the internet is a bit hit and miss...
I will freely admit right that being in such close proximity to one another tempers are running a bit higher than normal so I that night I headed off on my own to find a place to have dinner and decompress.  I actually found a Mexican place of all things which was really alright for what I paid.  Twelve dollars Canadian for a main entree and a alcoholic drink.  Besides that we didn't really do much other than check out the gay club scene that night.
We went to a club called AlterEgo which is Budapest's only official LGBTQ club.  We caught the end of a drag show which was fun (the amount I could understand anyway, the switched around from Hungarian to English quite frequently.)  After that we danced for a while but I was super tired after a day of traveling so I ended up heading home at like 2am.
Jack stayed out till around 4.

(Yesterday Rained Out)
As this was the first official day we had to explore Budapest we ended up just walking around one of the more touristy areas of the city.  St.Stephen's Basilica is one of the cities main attractions and surprisingly was only completed in 1905.  It's a beautiful Roman Catholic Church close to the river and is free to enter (although aspects such as the tower or catacombs you will have to pay a small fee).  We managed to get there just in time to see a bit inside before they closed it off for a private event.  From there we found our way to the Széchenyi Chain Bridge which links the old cities of Buda and Pest, the western and eastern sides of the city.  Just as we made it to the other side of the bridge a few droplets of moisture started to fall from the sky.  We only had to keep walking for a few minutes before those droplets turned into an absolute downpour.  As we were in shorts and T-shirts the best course of action it seemed was to power walk back to our AirBnb and wait it out.  The rain lasted to around 7pm before we dared to venture out again.
Google mapsing a Thai wok bar we stepped out into the freshly setting sun on a quest for food.

(Today Just Plain Exhausted)
It's been a bit of a roller coaster today.  Firstly though, we ended up heading back to Buda mountain on the grounds that we really didn't see any of it the previous day (thank you rain >.< )  However we made a slight detour to the relatively nearby Fisherman's Bastion.  It's a terraced structure made in the neo-Gothic style situated on the banks of the river Danube.  I'm not entirely sure what purpose the structure served but it was "protected by the fisherman's guild" (thank you wikipedia) whatever that means.  Regardless it's a visually stunning building and it also gives you a fantastic view of parliament and the rest of the city.
Having had my fill I made my way to the Hungary National Gallery where I burned an hour or two learning and appreciating a wide variety of Hungarian art and culture.  However I soon reached my capacity to appreciate Hungarian art and so I met back up with Jack and we tiredly head home.

As of writing I'm really not at liberty to say anything (because it's private) but Jack and I had a small fight this evening.  Completely normal and to be expected with the somewhat multifaceted relationship we have (again I use relationship to describe a non-romantic friendship).
All I can really say is that he stepped over a line.
Regardless we are still friends and nothing super catastrophic has happened.  I'll reiterate what I might've said in a previous blog but I feel small fights like this are natural.  Jack and I both have very domineering personalities and keeping us together for long periods of time doesn't help.  We've aired our feelings though and had a mature discussion of where we both stand.
Anyway, Anyway, Anyway tomorrow we are apparently off to experience a Hungarian bath(?)  It's supposedly going to be 32 Celsius tomorrow and I am very down for relaxing in a cold bath while that happens.

I'll tell you how it goes!
xoxo
