Czeching Things Out
.... I'll see myself out
ANYWAY
This is the first day of our trip because I was bad and didn't write it yesterday because I've already fallen off the horse and decided to have a drink with the owner of our AirBnB rather than write a blog yesterday.
This is not a trend I promise.
Yesterday was our first full day in Prague so after having walked around our neighbourhood the previous night Jack and I decided to retrace our steps and explore it in the day time.
Now to crush all rumours no, Jack and I are not dating again. Personally (and I say this understanding that he is one of my best friends) I would rather _________
***Insert Example Here***
I find Jack and I both have very explosive personalities and when neither side of a relationship (romantic or otherwise) can concede a point it makes it very hard to not get angry at one another. However as I said we are good friends and usually get along super well, hence not one but two intercontinental trips. We've just needed to learn how better to travel together as to not be constantly annoyed at the other party.
This isn't the "vent about Jack show" though, no you came to this part of my Blog to hear about where I've been traveling and I have to say Prague is absolutely gorgeous.
One of the requirements of Jack and I not killing each other is not to spend every waking moment around one another. Thus, we parted ways for the afternoon.
I went to Czech... out... a modern art Museum (#BadPunAlert #ImSorry) while Jack explored a nearby park.
It's funny because I'm not one to frequent museums back in Vancouver but there's something about exploring a gallery alone and in a foreign country that I really enjoy. I think it's because as a kid I was dragged around by my parents to look at things but now I have all the power. I can go as fast or slow as I want and no one is able to tell me otherwise (love you mom)
The exhibit I want to highlight is one by Brian Eno called "The Ship". It was part of the gallery's moving pictures wing however as the information card stated (I'm paraphrasing here) "The absence of motion and void of space transcends it's medium." As artsy-fartsy as it sounds it was a super cool exhibit.
Effectively it's a 22min-ish sound clip that's played on a loop as you walk into a nearly dark room meant to vaguely resemble the outer deck of a ship. The soundtrack is eerie without being scary but definitely caries a melencholic feel with it. Imagine listening to Lana Del Ray with the lights on and the windows open instead of with them off, crying in a dark room.
I spent a good 2-3 hours in the gallery in total so by the time I met up with Jack again it was around six in the evening so we decided to make our way back to the AirBnB. After showering and turning back into humans we went off on the hunt for dinner, following the recommendation from our host. As the Czech Republic is a first world, modernized nation the prices here are effectively the prices I would expect to see in Canada, for the most part. Food is a little cheaper than it is in Canada but alcohol is significantly less expensive and by significantly less expensive I mean I bought a six pack of beer tonight for like 3$...
I had a drink with our host Thomas and after that I decided to call it a night.
