Description of Project

In January 2020, I was contacted by one of my high school teachers through Facebook, who inquired about my expertise in creating digital products. Her brother-in-law, a critical care surgeon, expressed interest in starting an educational podcast to support fellow medical practitioners. I was introduced to Dr. Kim, and we commenced the necessary preproduction tasks involved in launching a media product.

Our first priority was to establish a website to serve as the podcast's hosting platform. Given the geographical distance between us (one party in Canada and the other in California), coordinating schedules and progress became challenging. After considering various options, I suggested using Squarespace as a centralized platform for hosting. I chose Squarespace due to its user-friendly web development tools, based on my previous experience with the platform. I wanted to ensure ease of use for everyone involved, as it is my preferred web development tool (disclaimer: I am not sponsored by Squarespace).

As a consultant, my primary responsibility is to provide advice and opinions to the best of my abilities, while ultimately deferring to the client's final decisions. Working with Dr. Kim was a pleasant experience as he had a clear vision of what he wanted, and my role was to help bring that vision to life. Initially, our plan was to have everything ready for an April launch party. However, considering the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, we mutually agreed to expedite the schedule.

Conducting a comprehensive competitor analysis was a crucial step that greatly influenced our design choices for the website. By examining how listeners engaged with similar products, we gained valuable insights. While we did not simply replicate what others were doing, we took note of various elements and creatively incorporated them into our original approach.

Once the website-related tasks were completed, my main focus shifted to social media management and consultation. Dr. Kim and his wife had limited experience using social media for business or content creation purposes, so they sought guidance on platform selection and optimal utilization. Informed by our competitor analysis, we decided to leverage Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram, with Facebook serving as our primary platform.

The website and social media platforms are now live. For further information and to view the completed website, please visit www.traumaicurounds.ca. You can also follow us on our social media channels:
